Our Experts answer your frequently asked questions on skincare, acne, stretchmarks, scars, hair-removal, and our products and treatments.
Question: Are there different products on the market for men?
Answer: Although it may seem like there should be different skin care products
for men and women, the needs of both men and women vary from person to person. Department stores and Spa’s often package
men’s and women’s products differently from each other however they are basically the same ingredients. We base a skin care
regime on your skin type and desired results rather than your sex.

Question: I am an Black woman who has acne scarring. I am interested in any treatment that would lighten without causing hyper-pigmentation. Also, I have some skin tags on my neck for removal. It is my hope that the staff has had experience/famaliarity with African American skin and it's specific needs.
Answer: African American skin with acne scarring can be treated with bleaching creams like hydroquinone if the "scarring" is a discoloration problem. If the problem is texture and you are wanting the acne scar smoothed out, there are very few ways to treat it without causing discoloration problems. I have a lot of experience working with African American skin and I would be happy to take a look and discuss your options with you. Our consultations are always complimentary.
Question: Are there any gentle, natural products you can recommend for horrible cystic acne and very sensitive skin?

Question: What can I do about stretch marks?
Answer: Stretch marks are not an easy problem to treat. Unfortunately
"old" stretch marks (older than six months) that have turned a silvery gray color are considered permanent.
If they are less than six months old and are red or blue color they can sometimes be treated with lasers or Intense
Pulsed Light. We would be happy to take a look at the areas of concern and give very realistic ideas of what the
treatment possibilities are. Our consultations are always complimentary.
Question: I have a large burn scar and want to know if it is possible to have it removed?
Answer: Treatments for scars rely heavily on the size and nature of your scar. Large scars from burns often require revision which is done in the hands of a plastic surgeon. Our founder and medical director Dr. Dean Vistnes is a board certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience with revision
of scars.
I would recommend that you give his office a call and set up an appointment for a consultation. Some scars can
be revised in office and others, if they are bigger and more extensive, may require work in the operating room.
You can see Dr Vistnes' website at www.vistnes.com or give the office a call at 866.323.0039.

Question: What treatments do you have for Rocasea?
Answer: Rocasea can be difficult and unpredictable
condition to control; we have found that Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments, also known as Fotofacial, can be
beneficial for many people. This process uses broad spectrum light that absorbs into the red and brown targets in
your skin, heats them up and causes them to break apart. In three to six treatments (about two to three weeks apart) you
will see a gradual improvement in the tone of your skin. We do offer complimentary consultations with our nurses who
can discuss this and other options including a beneficial home care regimen.
