Spider veins caused by dilated veins on the thighs, calves and ankles can be minimized in many cases by vascular laser treatments and/or traditional sclerotherapy -- the injection of a sclerosing agent directly into the vein.
Lasers have an advantage in that they're better at targeting tiny veins that are often difficult to inject. Lasers can't reach deep enough for some leg veins, however, and may be used in tandem with traditional sclerotherapy to achieve the desired result.
