Everything You Need to Know Before Your Morpheus8 Treatment

Everyone from Kim Kardashian to Eva Langoria to your favorite food blogger is gushing over Morpheus8. But is it really worth the hype?

Combining the benefits of microneedling with radiofrequency energy, Morpheus8 is one of the most comprehensive anti-aging treatments out there - effective at treating a range of concerns from wrinkles and crepey skin to cellulite and laxity, in all skin types, with minimal downtime.

It seems almost too good to be true. So, we sat down with SkinSpirit experts to arm you with everything you need to know before booking a Morpheus8 treatment.

Let’s start with the basics…

What Is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is an FDA-approved treatment that combines the benefits of microneedling and radiofrequency energy for smoother, tighter looking and more even toned skin. Treatment is available for the face, neck and body, and can help address a long list of concern including:

  • Wrinkles
  • Crepey skin
  • Acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Rosacea
  • Improved skin tone
  • Improved skin texture
  • Cellulite
  • Stretch marks
  • Skin laxity

What’s more, this is a treatment that’s great for all skin tones and types, and downtime is minimal. But is it right for you?

Here’s what you need to know before you schedule your Morpheus8 treatment:

While Morpheus8 is great for all skin types and a wide variety of concerns, the best candidate has already been taking great care of their skin with a dedicated at-home skincare regimen using medical-grade products, advises Audi Padmasuta, Aesthetic Nurse Specialist in Seattle.

She goes on to stress “absolutely no sun exposure prior to treatment, including self tanner and tanning beds!”

Justine Lewis (formerly Cruz), Aesthetic Nurse Specialist in Dallas, who considers Morpheus8 a new personal favorite, adds that patients should avoid filler in the three weeks leading up to their treatment. "I would recommend getting Morpheus8 before filler if that is your plan," she says.

A consultation is required before treatment, so that we can tailor your treatment to you and your skin type. Morpheus8 can be used to treat a wide variety of skin concerns for all complexions - it’s important we take the time to understand your skin specifically, so we can customize the treatment to meet your goals. Your provider can also recommend treatments that pair well with Morpheus8 to up-level your results.

The treatment itself involves the use of tiny needles that penetrate deeper layers of skin to boost collagen and elastin production. Working through three layers of skin - the epidermis, dermis and subnormal adipose layer -  Morpheus8 creates a mechanism of repair that causes the skin to rejuvenate, strengthen, and tighten.

Due to the depth of the procedure, some patients may find that a mild anesthetic can help them stay comfortable throughout the process. In addition to a topical anesthetic, we offer Pro-Nox™ to help relax the nerves and provide that added layer of comfort. Think of it like laughing gas taken before a dental procedure - Pro-Nox can cause feelings of euphoria, relaxation, calmness and even laughter. Your provider will help you administer just the right amount for a comfortable treatment.

Results get better with time and repeated treatments. “This is a slow progression, requiring a minimum of three sessions,” says Audi. “You will start to see more significant results at three and six months down the road.” Results are visible immediately and over time - for years to come.

Ongoing, we typically recommend 1-2  maintenance sessions per year to continue building collagen and building off of those great results.

After your treatment, prepare to give your skin some extra love with a gentle cleanser, extra hydration, and by staying out of the sun. We’ll provide you with a complimentary Sente Daily Repair Essentials Starter Kit, containing all the products you’ll need to soothe the skin and promote healing. Note that while downtime is minimal, you may experience some redness or swelling immediately following treatment. Rest assured, this will resolve within a day or two.
