I had my Initial Metabolic Weight Loss Assessment and it was actually kinda fun (and very informative). The results of my assessment were eye opening – I’ve got 38% body fat! I know the fat is there and I know I need to get rid of it. One positive note from the assessment was that I found out that I have a lot of muscle (it’s just hiding under my fat somewhere).
I am really excited about the REBALANCE program and getting this 38% body fat count down to a healthy number!
During my appointment with Carli, we talked about fuel alternatives to the energy gelI usually consume during each of my workouts. There are some requirements that I am looking for with these alternatives – it must be easy to eat, nothing that takes forever to chew – so anything with peanut butter is out, easy to carry, easy on the stomach, and tastes good.
Carli just discovered a “pancake” recipe she shared with me to use as a fuel alternative during my workouts – it consists of whole organic eggs, ripe smashed up banana and cinnamon – blended in the blender – and poured on to the skillet – I think I will give these a try on my next long run.
Pancake Recipe – 100% Natural – Gluten Free, Flourless, Low Calorie
- 2 Whole Eggs (Organic – Free Range)
- 1 Ripe Banana
- Cinnamon
Lightly blend all ingredients in a blender to liquid form, warm a skillet and coat with non-stick coconut oil on low to medium heat, and pour, in true pancake fashion, on to the HOT skillet, give it 20 to 30 seconds, and flip!
1 batch equals – 248 cals, 14 grams of protein
Let cool, pack in plastic bag or wax paper bag, they travel well
During my appointment I also received a B12 shot. I am hoping that with an improved diet – less sugar and more protein – and the B12 shots, my energy level will increase.
Here are my planned workouts for the upcoming week:
Thursday – 6 mile trail run
Friday – rest day
Saturday – 15 mile run
Sunday – 30 mile bike ride
Monday – rest day
Tuesday – 5 mile trail run
Wednesday – 6 mile trail run
I will post my weekly workouts – this makes me accountable and helps me to follow through! I will also keep everyone updated on the workout fuel alternatives.
