Franny G.: Week Three of REBALANCE

I went in to my week 3 appointment a little nervous this past week.  This was my first and most challenging week yet!

Work was very busy, I got sick, and I was out of town for the weekend (and did not make the best food decisions).

When I stepped on to the scale at my appointment, I was kind of bummed to see that I had only lost a 1/2 of a pound, a ½ a pound, REALLY? BUT, wait, there was GOOD NEWS! My InBody scan told a very different story.  I was able to see that over the previous two weeks I made some GIANT steps forward on the road to a healthy weight.  In the two weeks since my last body scan, I have LOST 8 pounds of BODY FAT and GAINED 4 pounds of LEAN MUSCLE.  There was also an increase in my metabolism.  I was so EXCITED, and more educated then I have ever been It is so encouraging to see that there are changes, and the changes I am making are REALLY working!

I really enjoy using the www.MyFitnessPal.com application on my phone. It’s great to be able to track my calories while on the go.  I also like to go back and see what I ate the previous week to see what is working for me and what is not.  It was a little tricky trying to eat healthy while out of town.  I was at a friend’s cabin in Lake Tahoe for a weekend of snowboarding, sledding, and snow play.  I knew that I wasn’t going to be eating the healthiest foods, but I made a conscious effort to limit my portions and not to have a second helping of anything.  It was hard BUT I DID IT! It was also great to be doing a TON of physical activities while up in the mountains.  Sledding really takes a lot out of you when you have to hike back up the hill after you sled down – had to of hiked back up the sledding hill atleast 30 times. Talk about a high elevation cardio workout. My trainer will be so proud of me.

Oh, and by the way, I am totally getting in to my Muay Thai Boxing classes at the Fairtex gym.  I think the classes are a major factor in my gaining the 4 pounds of muscle.  60 non-stop minutes of a Muay Thai class – INTENSE!  I love it!

Next week is going to be a GREAT week – I can feel it!

Saturday – 40 mile bike ride

Sunday – 10 mile run

Monday – Muay Thai at Fairtex with Charles Ceasar

Tuesday – 60 minute spin class

Wednesday – morning run and evening Muay Thai class at Fairtex with Charles Ceasar

Thursday – morning trail run at Rancho San Antonio

Friday – rest day!!
