Week one is in the books! 4 pounds down and I couldn’t be happier. Had my meeting with Carli and got some great advice – more protein and less carbs – AT NIGHT!
I am slowly breaking the habit of choosing the easy option for dinner – NO CEREAL! Several nights I had an egg burrito (also known as a breakfast burrito when you actually have it for breakfast).
Here’s what I put in my burrito: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 green onions (diced), 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, 2 slices of turkey bacon, and two GIANT scoops of salsa – all wrapped in a medium flour tortilla. I really like this as a dinner option because it is very filling; however, I think I am going to improve on the ingredients: whole wheat tortilla, egg whites, and 2% cheddar cheese.
I’ve also discovered how to make plain Greek yogurt delicious – add 1 tablespoon of honey and some granola. I’ve even come up with a technique to make sure I don’t use too much granola – I keep the yogurt in the single serving cup and put in just enough granola so that it doesn’t spill out when I stir it all up. I am really bad at eating more than the serving size, so this is a way I can keep that under control.
I am still trying to figure out how to fuel on long runs, so for my next long run I am going to try Honey Stinger organic energy chews. The energy chews are made from all-natural ingredients (organic tapioca syrup and honey). They are actually pretty tasty and very easy to carry.
I think in order for me to be successful with the REBLANCE program I have to make little changes, so this next week, I am going to incorporate more veggies into my diet and try out two new dinners.
Here’s my workout schedule for the week:
