Micro-needling & Penning in Seattle
What Is Micro-Penning?
At SkinSpirit, we love micro-penning for its ability to instigate the skin’s repair process, resulting in improved texture and softer wrinkles.
What Is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling is a similar procedure, but it goes deeper into the skin to address more series texture concerns, such as divots and pockmarks. This treatment tends to be more intense than micropenning, yielding greater change in terms of improved and softer wrinkles – however, it also carries a longer recovery time.
Our micro-needling experts in Seattle can advise you on any needed after care, but generally you can get back to daily life fairly quickly.
How It Works
During your treatment, your SkinSpirit practitioner will use a cordless, fractional, automated microneedling device composed of medical-grade stainless steel to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, helping it produce collagen and elastin. Micro-penning also creates micro-channels which allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing their effects in deeper layers of the skin.
Popular treatment areas in the Seattle area include the face, neck and décolleté. However, smaller treatment areas – such as the brows – can often achieve results visible across the entire face at a lower price tag. Please ask us for recommendations during your consultation with a SkinSpirit microneedling expert in Seattle!
The SkinSpirit Seattle Experience
When you visit us for micro-needling or micro-penning in Seattle, we will first provide you with a free consult to make sure your skin is in the best shape possible for treatment. We’ve got some tips to help you get pen-ready on our blog as well.
Then, when you arrive at our clinic in Green Lake or University Village, you can expect your treatment day to look a little something like this:
- First, your clinical aesthetician will apply a thick layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment setting based on your unique needs.
- Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding until the entire treatment area has been covered. This process results in thousands of superficial microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area, stimulating your skin’s natural ability to heal itself.
- This repair process begins almost immediately.
Depending on the size of the treatment area, a micropenning or microneedling treatment typically lasts between 15 and 30 minutes.
In some cases, multiple treatments may be recommended to achieve the best results. Your practitioner will share their recommendations after your complimentary consultation.
Most of our clients can return to their normal, daily activities immediately after their micro-penning or micro-needling treatment. The total healing time depends on the emphasis of the treatment. On average, the skin might be pink 1 to 3 days afterwards.
Once healed, you’ll begin to notice benefits ranging from:
- Wrinkle reduction
- Texture and tone improvement
- Softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging
- Acne scar and traumatic scar improvement
New collagen production significantly improves the look of your skin, combatting the effects of years of sun damage.
Visible changes in the skin can develop over the course of a few days or several weeks after the treatment. Results continue to improve for up to six months after original treatment, as collagen production continues over time.
As noted above, you tend to notice greater change from micro-needling than micro-penning, but there is a longer recovery time to go along with that.
