Post Treatment Instructions for Chemical Peels

Modified TCA, Jessners, Salicylic Acid and Vitalize Peel

The treatment performed today may cause increased sensitivity to the skin depending on the skin type and home care regimen. Side effects may include, but are not limited to stinging, itching, irritation, redness, swelling, tightness, peeling and scabbing.

Until the skin is completely healed, avoid sweating, exercising, hot baths or showers, scrubbing, picking or rubbing, which could lead to scarring.

Day 1 – Your face will feel warm and flushed like a mild sunburn. Take care to stay out of the sun.

Day 2 – Skin will feel tight and dry. Wash your skin gently with a mild cleanser. Moisturize as needed (Physical SPF 30+).

Day 3-7 – Skin may begin to crack and peel and continue to peel for about 3-5 days.

Pigmented areas may appear darker during this time. Gently wash face with a mild cleanser morning and evening. Avoid moisturizer as it will slow down the peeling process.  Do not pick or peel these areas as complications may occur.

Use only products advised by your practitioner including sunscreen until instructed otherwise. Avoid sun exposure.
