When it comes to Kybella vs CoolSculpting for a double chin, Kybella can be a more precise treatment, done with a simple injection technique.
Kybella is a non-invasive procedure engineered to address moderate-to-severe submental fullness. Once the fat is removed, your skin will follow the new contour of the neck and chin, resulting in a naturally elegant and contoured appearance. The key ingredient is deoxycholic acid, which is naturally found in your digestive system.
The number of treatments needed can vary, but SkinSpirit Kybella expert Samsara Sterling says most of her clients require two sessions. Each session is scheduled one month apart and the number of injections you receive are based on the results you want. Kybella will permanently dissolve the fat, which will be naturally excreted, and improvement may be noticed as soon as four weeks later!
The whole chin fat removal process can take as little as 15 minutes with Kybella, and we will numb the area under your chin for your comfort. Afterwards, you will likely experience some swelling for approximately three days, so you’ll want to plan accordingly. However, you shouldn’t experience any pain and if you do have some discomfort, Samsara recommends Ibuprofen.
Samsara says of this innovative double chin removal treatment: “You get liposuction results, without the downtime and without the pain.”
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive body contouring technique that kills fat cells through cold suction. It is the go-to treatment for stubborn pockets of fat that refuse to disappear even after dieting and committing to an intense workout routine. CoolSculpting is used to contour many areas of the body that do not require surgical intervention, and is often used as a chin fat removal technique for those with more fullness below the chin.
The CoolSculpt mini is very effective. You may notice a 20% improvement after your first session, with best results typically visible 2-3 months after treatment. Generally, a second and possibly a third session four to six weeks apart may be recommended.
We are often asked: what is the procedure like? Our clients tend to find that, while cold, CoolSculpting for double chin reduction is very tolerable. A gel pad is applied to the area under the chin and then, a small or mini applicator is applied area. You will feel suction and then cold. There may be some pinching of the skin but your skin will eventually become numb due to the cooling action.
You may listen to music or read during the approximately 45-minute treatment (per applicator*). There may be some swelling to the area but afterward, you are good-to-go and can resume all your normal daily activities, including your exercise routine.
Keep in mind that not everyone is a candidate for CoolSculpting or Kybella. Our experts can assess your goals to help you determine whether you are a good fit during a complimentary consultation.
