Tips for Glowing, Wedding-Ready Skin from a Skincare Professional

Bad skin and breakouts are the last thing you should have to deal with on your wedding day. So we got together with a SkinSpirit bride to get you tips for healthy, glowing skin from someone who not only knows her stuff - but has followed her own advice and done so recently.

Lynzy Davies (Rigby), RN, BSN, at our Palo Alto location, walked down the aisle glowing, and she wanted to let you in on her secrets.

Lynzy’s Wedding-Ready Skin Care Treatments

When it comes to a wedding ready skin care plan, Lynzy recommends a combination of facial and skin rejuvenation treatments, based on her own personal experience.

Micropenning

Lynzy did a series of Micropenning treatments every 4-6 weeks for about five months leading up to her wedding, with the goal of improving skin texture and aiding in the stimulation of collagen.

“I think it’s important to do a minimum of three treatments every 4-6 weeks apart in order to see the improvement in your skin,” she says. “I would recommend doing the last treatment no later than one month before the wedding. You want time for the skin to have the optimal recovery time.”

Botox

For Lynzy, Botox was a staple treatment, even before she started wedding planning, helping to soften lines in the face and to make one look refreshed. Bonus: your makeup will look smoother than ever after treatment!

In order to get the best results, she recommends doing a “trial run” of Botox at least six months before your wedding. This allows us time to determine the correct dosing for the patient and see how they like it.

“The final round of Wedding Botox should be done no later than six weeks before the wedding,” advises Lynzy. “We want to be able to have time to make any adjustments if needed.”

Aquagold

Closer to the wedding - about 7-10 days beforehand - Lynzy suggests Aquagold.

“It helps give that final GLOW UP before the big day!” she says, giving the skin a little tightening and overall glow, and making it a wonderful addition to feel your absolute best for the big day.

IPL

While Lynzy is not a candidate for IPL due to her melasma, this is a treatment she recommends to other brides for overall even skin tone and brightening of the skin (per the appropriate candidate).

IPL is a great treatment for patients who have a lot of redness, broken capillaries, and sun damage, and who are looking to improve their skin tone. The number of treatments will depend on the amount of work that needs to be done to the skin.

Lynzy recommends doing the last treatment no later than one month before the wedding so that your skin has ample time to recover.

Filler

For brides-to-be interested in filler, Lynzy’s recommendation would be to schedule your treatment no later than six weeks before your wedding date.

This allows enough time for bruising, swelling and healing to go down and leaves you with beautiful looking results. Filler can also be done a few months in advance of the wedding and the results will still be present and beautiful come wedding time!

Facials

Last, but certainly not least, she recommends getting facials done in between your other treatments.

“Each treatment marries each other nicely,” says Lynzy. “Facials help with cleansing, extracting and exfoliating the dead skin cells, making your skin feel and look wonderful.”

She specifically loved having a dermaplaning facial before her own wedding, which not only left her peach fuzz-free, but also allowed her makeup to sit beautifully and made her skin feel incredibly smooth.

Ultimately, though, the best results come from a customized treatment plan. Visit us at any SkinSpirit location in California, Washington, or Texas for a complimentary consultation with an aesthetician, who can help you get on the best skin care routine for your skin type.

Don’t forget home care

While Lynzy didn’t need to make any changes to her product regimen leading up to her wedding (as a skincare professional, she’s pretty on top of these things already), she always encourages medical-grade antioxidants, retinols, moisturizers and sunscreen in your routine.

Your aesthetician will be happy to recommend the right products for your skin type along with the best facial treatments for you during your consultation!

Last minute words of wisdom for a smooth wedding day

Try not to stress as you approach your big day. Easier said than done, we know. Worrying not only impacts your mental state, but also reflects on your skin and can lead to breakouts.

We’ll leave you with these last words of wisdom from Lynzy: “At the end of the day, you are going to be the most beautiful bride and makeup will cover everything. We just love being apart of the journey that allows you to feel your best and to let your confidence shine through. After all, it’s the best feeling when we feel beautiful and confident without makeup, and I truly feel these treatments aid in that.”
