Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft – What’s The Difference?

Our skin changes as we age. It thins, loses fat and is no longer as plump or smooth as it was in our younger years. This youthfulness occurs naturally from a substance called Hyaluronic Acid provides fullness and elasticity. As we age, the hyaluronic acid in our skin diminishes, causing skin to lose volume. This loss of hyaluronic acid is one of the reasons wrinkles and folds begin to appear.

Injectables such as Botox and traditional dermal fillers like hyaluronic acid are popular anti-aging treatments injected into facial areas to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and restore facial contours.

The Restylane family of products is a brand of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers from Galderma. The line-up includes Restylane, Restylane Silk and Restylane Lyft. Each is a clear, gel formulation of hyaluronic acid specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid. How are Restylane, Restylane Silk and Restylane Lyft different?

Restylane is used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane is also indicated for lip augmentation.

Restylane Silk is the first FDA-approved product specifically designed for subtle lip augmentation and the smoothing of wrinkles around the mouth. It is compromised of a gel that is smaller and smoother than other Restylane products, resulting in a softer, more precise result – ideal for restoring and enhancing the lips. Additionally, Restylane Silk is administered via an ultrafine needle, designed for improved accuracy and precision.

Restylane Lyft is approved for cheek augmentation and the correction of age-related midface contour deficiencies. It also treats moderate to severe facial folds, such as the nasolabial folds (smile lines). Restylane Lyft is the first and only FDA-approved filler with the ability to provide fullness to the cheeks, as well as restore lost volume in the midface area. Restylane Lyft contains 0.3% lidocaine, which is added to reduce the discomfort during treatment.
