What’s the Difference Between VelaShape and Endermologie?
Even though cellulite isn’t life threatening or painful, it’s still bothersome and aesthetically unpleasing for those who suffer from it.
Cellulite is the dimpling and uneven appearance on the skin, commonly described as the “orange peel effect” because it looks similar to an orange peel. Most who suffer from cellulite tend to see it show up in areas such as the hips and thighs as well as the arms, buttocks and abdomen.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a treatment available that can get rid of cellulite forever, but there are effective ways to soften and improve problem areas.
Two of the most effective ways to treat cellulite are offered at SkinSpirit: VelaShape and Endermologie.
VelaShape is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared body contouring treatment that uses a combination of heat, suction, rolling, infrared light and radio frequency to tighten and tone problem areas, working to reduce the appearance of cellulite. There’s no downtime or significant discomfort. VelaShape is ideal for those looking to blast away the last bit of fat and target areas plagued by cellulite that diet and exercise can’t seem to reach.
VelaShape works by deeply heating fat cells, their surrounding connective tissue and the underlying dermal collagen fibers. The combination of the technologies used in the treatment stimulates the growth of new collagen and elastin, resulting in tighter skin, a reduction of body volume and an overall improvement in the skin’s structure and texture.
There’s nothing painful about a VelaShape treatment. Each treatment feels like a warm, deep tissue massage. It’s normal to experience a warm sensation in the treated areas for a few hours after treatment. Treatment areas may even be pink for a few hours after treatment.
A series of VelaShape treatments can noticeably improve the appearance of cellulite and give the treated areas the look of firmer, tighter skin. Clients typically notice dramatic results after receiving three to four treatments, with each treatment set one week apart. Some may even see a difference after just one treatment. For best results, a series of VelaShape treatments is recommended.
Endermologie is the undisputed pioneer of cellulite treatments. It was the first cellulite treatment to be approved by the FDA. This non-invasive body contouring treatment uses physical stimulation (a mechanical massage) to firm up the skin and increase circulation, resulting in a temporary reduction of cellulite. This deeply relaxing treatment acts more like a total body massage and can detoxify the body, improving skin tone and radiance while also tightening the skin and relieving muscular aches. Endermologie is more effective for maintaining weight loss after a healthy diet and exercise regimen has been put into place and is also quite effective when received after surgery, helping to improve surgery results.
During an Endermologie treatment, clients wear a specialized body stocking while the practitioner uses the hand-held massaging device on the treated areas. A single treatment can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated. Most clients will need to have one to two treatments a week. After treatment, clients can go back to their normal activities immediately. With Endermologie, there’s no downtime and treatments are painless. The level of massage during treatment can be adjusted if the client experiences any sort of discomfort.
To maintain results, practitioners generally recommend a minimum of six to ten treatments for noticeable, dramatic results. The results from these sessions will usually last a few months. To maintain results, one Endermologie treatment is recommended every month after the initial series of treatments. The actual number of treatments and any further maintenance sessions will be based on the client’s desired outcome and discussed during the complimentary consultation, before treatment begins.
VelaShape vs Endermologie
Endermologie uses a mechanical massage to indirectly help with fat reduction, cellulite and skin tightening because it helps improve blood circulation. Endermologie is used more as a cleansing/flushing treatment to help with swelling, blood circulation, digestion, fluid retention and to breakdown scar tissue.
VelaShape uses a combination of heat, suction, rolling, infrared light and radio frequency to help target the reduction of cellulite, skin tightening and circumferential reduction.
Even though some clients may see results faster with fewer treatments of VelaShape, there are still a number of clients who may have specific medical conditions that make Endermologie a better option for them.
To determine if you’re a good candidate for either VelaShape or Endermologie, we recommend coming in for a complimentary consultation with one of our experts.
