Reduce discoloration, breakouts and wrinkles
What Are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels reveal the smoother, healthier skin below the surface. They tend to be stronger and deeper penetrating than our resurfacing treatments, which are often light and gentle.
How They Work
Chemical peels dissolve the connection that holds dead cells together on the surface of the skin, revealing the smoother, healthier skin beneath.
There are a number of different types of chemical peels, depending on your skin concerns; your aesthetician will help you determine the best type of peel for you during your consultation.
The SkinSpirit Experience
At SkinSpirit, we use a variety of different formulas to treat skin from the inside out. Each peel offers slightly different benefits and takes an average of 30 minutes. Popular peels at SkinSpirit locations in California, Washington, Utah and Texas include:
Ideal for skin brightening and getting started with chemical peels.
The Illuminize Peel is a very light peel with no downtime that is safe for all skin types, making it a great starter peel. Patients can expect healthier, brighter looking skin post-treatment.
Ideal for acne correction.
Combining a special pumpkin pulp with resurfacers, this treatment clarifies the skin, helping to reduce acne and inflammation. To increase efficacy further, it may be paired with a Retinol, and can result in around 2-3 days of downtime.
Ideal for those with pigment abnormalities, acne and photo damage.
Safe for most skin types, this chemical peel treatment is the next step above a Pumpkin/Pro–Retinol Peel and a Salicylic Acid resurfacing treatment — perfect for those wanting their first “chemical peel.” It addresses various skin conditions, helping to brighten, clarify and correct light pigment.
Moderate downtime is expected and can last from 5-7 days.
Modified Jessner Peel
Ideal for correcting acne, redness and pigment.
More aggressive than a Vitalize Peel, the Modified Jessner Peel is our go-to treatment for clarifying the skin and correcting acne, redness and pigments. Its mix of actives means it works best on thicker, oily or stubborn skin types. With this peel, downtime vary based on the layers of application. Your provider can share more detail during your consultation.
Ideal for skin with visible sun damage, wrinkles and collagen depletion.
The TCA peel is our anti-aging hero, working to tighten the skin and reduce sun damage along with other pigment issues. The result can improve your entire appearance.
With a more gentle formula than a Modified Jessner Peel, this is a better choice for those with delicate, softer or darker skin types. Again, downtime can vary depending on the application.
Ideal for comprehensive improvement.
The Perfect Peel multitasks to provide comprehensive benefits like improvement of fine lines and wrinkles, reducing the appearance of pores, and evening out skin tone.
Some downtime is expected – around 7-10 days. However, this elegant blend of actives also allows patients to see improvement with the least amount of peeling.
The Perfect Peel is designed to be safe for all skin types, but we do recommend darker skin types take 4-6 of preparation prior to your peel series. Your provider can offer more detail on what that means, or you can view our pre care guide here.
Ideal for treating a variety of indications with minimal downtime.
Light peels can be applied in combination with a SkinSpirit skincare treatment to help with a variety of indications. Some will address hydration and brightening, while others will help with pigmentation and skin tone; we also have light peels designed to treat acne and/or oily skin.
Ideal for giving mature skin a boost.
The peptide treatment addresses skin tightening and infuses nutrients into the skin, promoting overall skin health and vibrancy. This peel can be paired with Retinol to amplify results. Note that some flaking is expected.
Ideal for treating very stubborn pigment concerns, including melasma, in all skin types.
The Cosmelan peel is a one-of-a-kind solution for hyperpigmentation and melasma in that it incorporates the tried and true Hydroquinone, as well as over 50 other active ingredients that help mitigate the melanocyte overproduction. As a result, and with no heat required, it’s effective at treating even the most stubborn pigmentation concerns, including melasma, and is suitable for all skin types.
Please note that Cosmelan requires dedicated home care for a period of seven months following your in-clinic treatment.

Chemical peel treatments are more aggressive than resurfacing treatments and are designed to deliver optimal results. Some downtime is generally expected but this can vary depending on the type of peel.
Results also vary based on treatment, but ultimately all chemical peels help skin look noticeably brighter, more even and smoother.
