DAY OF APPOINTMENT:
- Please eat before arrival to avoid lightheadedness.
- Numbing cream may be applied before injections to improve your comfort.
- Local anesthetic is in the filler which will also improve comfort.
- You may be tender in the areas of injection after the numbing medicine wears off.
- Cold compresses will help decrease any swelling and decrease the possibility of bruising. Please do not apply for more than 20 minutes at a time. Area may be washed gently a few hours post injection.
- Alcohol consumption within 4-6 hours after treatment can increase bruising.
- During the first 24 hours, refrain from heavy exercise, particularly any exercise that involves inversions, i.e., yoga or Pilates.
- Please refrain from aggressive rubbing, deep massaging or pressure for 6 weeks until filler fully settles.
Please do not hesitate to call our office at (855) 383-7546 if you have any questions or concerns about your treatments.
Post-treatment instructions
- You will begin to see results post injection. Swelling may be present for up to 8 weeks.
- It's normal to experience bruising, swelling, and tenderness around the injection site. The treatment area may also appear uneven as swelling resolves.
- Redness around the injection site will resolve in a few hours
- Injection site may worsen the day after your treatment, and will improve on day 3
- You may encounter a bruise at the injection site, and this may take up to 2 weeks to resolve
- It's normal to feel lumps, bumps, and firmness. Do not massage, unless instructed by practitioner.
- For those treated with SCULPTRA ONLY: it’s important to massage the area treated 5 times a day for 5 minutes, for the 5 days following your treatment or as directed by your provider.
- Do not take any blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, green tea, or any other steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for 24-48 hours, they may increase bruising.
- Initial numbness right after your treatment should only last about 30 minutes. When the numbing effect wears off, mild discomfort may be experienced. You may take Tylenol if needed, or an antihistamine for swelling, as directed by your provider—most of the time it is not necessary.
- Swelling will typically improve within 2-3 days and may last up to 8 weeks. Cold compresses may be used to reduce swelling. Please do not apply for more than 20 minutes at a time. Avoid salt in your diet if you have swelling, as the salt may increase or delay the resolution of swelling.
- Warm compresses can help resolve bruising faster. Your practitioner can give you specific instructions depending on the degree of swelling that is present.
- Until the initial redness and swelling have resolved, avoid exposure of the treated area to intense heat (i.e. sun lamps or sunbathing). This also includes other treatments like Intense Pulsed Light, laser hair removal, Ulthera etc. Check with your practitioner on your particular situation.
- Additional treatments may be recommended in 6-9 months depending on the filler used and where it was injected. Check with your practitioner regarding your particular needs.
- Please notify your nurse or nurse practitioner if swelling/discomfort or redness does not begin to resolve within 5-7 days.
POST NEUROTOXIN INSTRUCTIONS
- It may take 10-14 days for the Neurotoxin to take effect. If you are experiencing movement in the area during that time and are concerned about it, we will probably ask you to wait the full 2 weeks before additional units are added.
- If there is still movement to the treated area 2 weeks after injection, please call our office for a follow up.
- Touch-ups for additional units of Neurotoxin are available at an additional cost.
- Heavy exercise within a day or two after treatment can increase swelling.
- Avoid vaccinations and dental work for 2 weeks post injection.
- Minor asymmetry of muscle movement is normal for the first 7-10 days after treatment.
