PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- To obtain optimal results and to decrease the chance of bruising at the blood draw site, please avoid blood thinning medications (i.e., aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E supplements for one week prior to treatment).
- Please inform your practitioner if you are taking medications such as Plavix or coumadin for any medical condition.
- Please eat within 2 hours of your appointment and drink plenty of water for optimal hydration before your appointment.
Post-treatment Instructions:
immediately after Treatment:
- Skin might feel hot and look flushed for a few hours after treatment.
- Nothing will be applied to your skin after treatment, so plan on being indoors and out of the sun for the remainder of the day.
- Avoid Touching the Treated Area: Refrain from touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated area for at least 24 hours to prevent infection and displacement of the injected PRF.
- Ice Application: Apply ice packs to the treated area for 10-15 minutes every hour to reduce swelling and discomfort.
- Pain Management: Over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be taken to alleviate discomfort.
for next 24 hours:
- Avoid touching your skin but if you must, wash your hands before you do.
- Gently cleanse your skin with a mild cleanser that does not contain any active ingredients.
- Use a physical sunblock 30-50 SPF.
- Avoid Makeup: Do not apply makeup to the treated area for at least 24 hours to prevent infection.
- Avoid Strenuous Activities: Refrain from engaging in vigorous exercise or any activity that increases blood flow to the face for 24-48 hours.
day 2-5:
- Continue with gentle cleanser morning and night.
- Your skin may or may not begin to slough and lightly peel.
- Use gentle moisturizer morning and night and as needed.
- Sun Protection: Avoid direct sun exposure and use a high SPF sunscreen to protect the treated area from UV rays.
- Follow Skincare Routine: Resume a gentle skincare routine after 24-48 hours, avoiding harsh products and treatments such as chemical peels, exfoliants, and retinoids for at least one week.
- Monitor for Adverse Reactions: Be aware of signs of infection such as increased redness, swelling, pain, or pus.
after 5-7 days:
- Slowly resume your active products as tolerated.
- 2. Continue with physical sunblock every day.
- 3. Best results are usually seen between 2-3 months after treatment.
- 4. Treatments are generally recommended once a month for an initial series of three followed by maintenance treatments once every six months. Be sure to discuss your individual goals with your practitioner as the process can vary depending on the goals.
