Understanding Facial Balancing: From Consultation to Results

If you've heard the buzz around facial balancing, but aren't exactly sure what it means (or why it’s all over SkinTok), you're not alone. Facial balancing refers to aesthetic treatments designed to help with symmetry and proportion. It’s safe, non-invasive, and highly customizable. Our medical experts use their deep understanding of facial anatomy to assess your unique features and create a treatment plan specifically tailored to you. Next, they’ll use a combination of strategically-placed injectables to balance your profile, so you still look like you—just naturally refreshed, with a more symmetrical facial structure. As our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sachin Shridharani, puts it, “Facial balancing is used to create really harmonious outcomes by thinking about the entire face, from top to bottom, front to back, superficial to deep, and vice versa.”

Artistry meets anatomy

These aren’t one-size-fits-all treatments. Facial balancing is rooted in a deep understanding of how all the elements of your face—muscles, fat pads, bone structure, and skin—interact. Our experts look closely at the bigger picture: your facial proportions, angles, and contours. Every detail matters. Your treatment plan will be super-personalized (based on your skin needs, features, and desired outcome), but our experts usually use a combination of:

  • Dermal fillers—hyaluronic acid-based injectables to hydrate, balance, and enhance your features. We’ll use holistically-placed fillers for a natural and symmetrical appearance.
  • Neurotoxins—typically Botox® or Dysport, to relax overactive muscles, soften harsh expressions, and create more facial symmetry. If you’ve only tried Botox solo, trust us, it’s even better when combined with filler to help balance your features.

Your treatment plan might also include energy-based devices like radiofrequency microneedling, such as Morpheus8 (a type of RF microneedling). These treatments powerfully combine the benefits of microneedling and radiofrequency technology, stimulating collagen and elastin to improve skin texture, tone, and tightness.

Integrating two of our most popular treatments allows us to enhance facial balance, improve symmetry, and refine your features—while also addressing muscle movement—for results that look smooth, natural, and never overdone (And, this goes without saying, but using medical-grade skincare at home is key to maintaining your results.)

FAQs

Why get facial balancing?

A better question might be…why not get facial balancing? This holistic treatment has become incredibly popular for a reason. Rather than enhancing isolated features, like lips or cheekbones, facial balancing treats your entire facial structure and proportions. You’ll look like the most natural, best version of yourself.

What can I expect from my facial balancing consultation?

Your consultation starts with a full-face assessment—yes, full, from the scalp to the clavicle. Our medical providers understand facial anatomy, inside and out. We won’t assess your features in isolation; we evaluate how everything works together to create harmony. We take into account both facial structure and skin quality.

How is facial balancing different from other treatments?

Other services address a single skin concern, rather than treating the entire face holistically. “We're using all of these treatments in conjunction with appropriate anatomic assessments, to get really great aesthetic outcomes,” Dr. Shridharani says. “It’s different from other treatments, because it's that concept of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.”

How long does it last?

Most clients don't realize that facial balancing results are surprisingly long-lasting—once you establish a foundation with the first few treatments. While you might want Botox touch-ups every 4-6 months, you’ll likely get filler touch-ups only once or twice a year. Surprisingly low maintenance!

Who is a good candidate for facial balancing treatments?

So many of our clients, including:

  • Clients taking GLP-1 medications—these medications can lead to rapid fat loss not just in the body, but in the face. Facial balancing helps replace lost volume in the cheeks, and firms up sagging skin by supporting structure.
  • Clients in their late 20s-late 30s—think proactive, not drastic. It’s a subtle, strategic way to subtly enhance your natural features, like lips or cheeks. It can also be used to correct minor asymmetries, for a refreshed, naturally contoured profile.
  • Clients in their 40s, 50s, and beyond—full face rejuvenation helps replenish lost volume, soften deeper wrinkles, and restore overall contour (tightening sagging skin or jowls). By targeting specific areas like the mid-face, jawline, and neck, facial balancing restores a more lifted, refreshed appearance.

Facial balancing is the opposite of cookie-cutter medical aesthetics (no Instagram Faces here). It’s subtle, strategic, and designed to make you look like the best version of yourself. So if you’re looking to soften asymmetry, contour your profile, or just look a little more like you—say, after a great night’s sleep—it’s worth looking into. As Dr. Shridharani says, “Ultimately, the goal is to have someone look like the most natural and best version of themselves.” That’s an “after” we can get behind.
